I was invited to be a guest at the annual San Diego Comic-Con, by far the largest comic book convention in the country (about 150,000 attendees). The Red Cross traditionally holds a blood drive at these things, and I did feel a little sad about not being able to donate blood, but the rules aren't as thorough as they should be. Now all the characters seen in the strip are © their own owners, but the final panel of Steve Rogers getting his "super-solider" program is from Captain America #1 and art-style "lifted" from the late Jack Kirby.
